What is your definition of differentiated instruction?

  1. I believe DI means that every child in the room views you as a personal one-on-one learning coach, despite the fact that there are 24 other learners in the same classroom.

  2. Teaching students in a way that each students strengths are reached, helping each student to learn to their fullest potential and feel successful.

  3. Differentiated Instruction does not change WHAT is taught, it changes HOW it is taught. It is teaching with variance in mind. Instruction is tailored based on individual differences, engaging students where they are, rather than where they are expected to be.

  4. DI is an approach to teaching that provides students with different ways to learn, process, and make sense of skills/ideas being taught. All children learn in different ways so this is needed to meet the academic needs of all students.

  7. DI is a proactive approach to teaching by using assessments to reach every student based on the needs of their personal learning styles, and grouping them according to interests & skills.

  8. Great work! I believe DI is acknowledging that learning is an individual process as well as a way to celebrate a student's strengths.

  9. I view DI as instruction best suited to each child's strength and way to learn.
